Juan Pablo is a filmmaker and professional photographer born and raised in the mountainous city of Monterrey, Mexico. As a kid, Juan Pablo enjoyed creating “películas” (movies) with his cousins in rare areas they found over the city: unexplored caves, forests, or even his grandmothers spooky basement. His passion for photography was inspired by his grandfather who introduced him to the world of analogue photography. These events led him to pursue his dream as a filmmaker in Canada. A graduate from the Film and Video Production Program at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, he describes his filmmaking style as simple and raw. Most importantly, he values involving his Mexican heritage and memories from the past in his work. He believes in touching people’s heart, mind, and soul through the art of filmmaking.
